Owner Richard Gillis brings more than 10 years of hands-on experience working with concrete flooring and coating systems. Meet Owner Richard Gillis

Total Concrete Coatings & Polish is owned by Richard Gillis, who has spent more than 10 years working hands-on with concrete surfaces and flooring systems.

That experience has reinforced one principle that guides our work today: a flooring system is only as dependable as the concrete preparation beneath it.

Concrete floors can differ significantly from one property to another. Existing coatings, cracks, surface contamination, moisture conditions, previous repairs and the condition of the slab can all affect what should be done before a new flooring system is installed.

Rather than recommending the same product for every floor, Richard believes in looking at the actual concrete and determining what preparation and flooring approach makes sense for the project.

As an owner-operated local business, Richard remains directly involved in the company and the work we perform.

We don’t believe a coating should simply be applied over whatever condition exists.

A successful flooring project begins with understanding the existing concrete. Before installation, the slab may need to be evaluated for cracks, damaged areas, existing coatings and other conditions that could interfere with adhesion or affect the finished floor.

Preparation Before Product

Surface preparation is a fundamental part of our installation process.

Depending on the project and the condition of the concrete, preparation may include mechanical grinding, removal of existing material, cleaning and appropriate crack or surface repairs.

The objective is to create a properly prepared surface for the flooring system being installed—not simply cover up problems underneath it.
